Innovative ideas are needed to tackle development challenges like poverty, conflict and climate change. Social entrepreneurship is one way to put such ideas in practice. We at the D2Development Fund believe that amongst you there are both powerful ideas and the management skills to become great social entrepreneurs and to transform development socially, environmentally and economically. It is with this belief that each year we award 3000 Euros to one development project proposed by students or alumni ofLSE that shows transformative potential. In essence our funding aims to support the incubation an innovative idea that can hopefully develop into successful social enterprise in the development sector. Our vision and mission however is much larger than funding one project each year: We are are vibrant team seeking to promote entrepreneurship in development by harnessing the collective intellectual, social and economic capital of people at LSE.
For this year’s prize, we accept your proposals until September 30. Click here to access our proposal guidelines. After receiving your submission, the selection committee will make a first selection of the best proposals. The three best ones will be proposed for public voting on our website. This process is expected to end in mid-December with an award ceremony at LSE.
Check out our website to get inspired by past winners of our award, which includes Bloom Microventures, an innovative social enterprise combining microfinance and sustainable development, and Worldwise Development, a web platform linking anthropologists with regional expertise and development practitioners.
